Finished... for now.

Well, the time has come again. I speak, of course, of winter break. No more late-night study sessions here, no sir. There's only one problem: I am going to have to do a LOT of work over the next few weeks.

I anticipate receiving the specifications for the Google Maps interface for the Community Outreach website, which will finally allow me to get the ball rolling on this project.

I've also got a lot of reading to do on the Tekkotsu interface for the robotics class next semester. Fun times ahead.

After all of that, there's the incredible email backlog. Yikes! Don't even get me started on that mess...

OK, have fun!

Da' DWORD-Up.

Online Watershed Utilities & Snow Cap

I will not elaborate any further on the lunacy surrounding the common English exam. I believe I have said enough on the matter...

The EPA-sponsored class, however, was quite interesting.

First, let me say that I am NOT a civil engineer; therefore, I view this class in a different capacity than the other individuals who were in attendance. I am more interested in the accessibility of public data, rather than watershed management tools. Actually it is quite surprising how easy the tools presented today (I'll post a list of tools later) were to use, especially for someone with little (read: no) knowledge of watershed management issues. This is a far different scenario than what I found myself in over the summer: knee-deep in the National Water Information System (through the USGS). Neither agency nails the accessibility issue in my view. I'd really like to spend some more time trying to come up with a streamlined interface which would allow "average citizens" the ability to access the information on these sites quickly and efficiently...

...but for now I'll just kick back, drink a beer, and get myself read for my Calculus II exam.

Until next time,

Common Exams & Time Conflicts

In preparation for the common exam in English tomorrow, I am reminded of the time-honored tradition of the five-paragraph essay. What a ridiculous measure of an individual's ability to critically think!

In other news, I will be attending a class hosted by the EPA at UDC tomorrow afternoon. Since I will be crafting five paragraphs of high-quality, grade-A crap for the professors in the English department to read, I will, unfortunately, miss the first session. Oh well, at least the afternoon session deals with accessing the EPA's online water-quality database, which is infinitely more interesting anyway.

Well, it's off to bed. I can use all the beauty rest I can get...

Stay tuned for another exciting episode of "Travis's Boring Life!"

Happy Birthday, Kyle!

Kyle,

You rock. In fact, I propose a new geological classification for igneous rocks: Kyle rocks. After the new classification is accepted by the scientific community, there will be crazy geologists on the Discovery Channel talking about how the volcano "spewed forth it's massive load of lava, forming Kyle rocks."

Just a thought...

Love,
You're (extremely crazy) brother Travis

Blogging is silly.

I never thought I'd start a blog of my own, yet here we are. Enjoy my ramblings.

Yours Truly,
